Description: The lancet is the earliest and most simple form of bloodletting tools consisting of a single sharpened blade with an ebony, ivory, or sterling handle. Interestingly, there is a lot of controversy over whether lancets were used as bloodletting tools or as ink erasers, funny enough. There is a common belief, however, that as bloodletting went out of fashion in the early 20th century, lancet manufacturers marketed their products for different purposes to maintain business.
