Description: The principal use of the Deschamp’s ligature needles is to compress blood vessels by placing ligatures around them. The tips were manufactured to bend left or right to be chosen according to the surgeon’s dexterity. Today, the Deschamp’s ligature needle has been more-or-less replaced by ligature forceps (also known as a hemostat or Pean) which clamps blood vessels to prevent blood loss.
