Description: The technique of eustachian tube catheterization is more than a century old being used to check the patency of the tube. In this process, called the “Rosenmuller Method,” the catheter was inserted through the nose and adjusted to enter the eustachian tube after which a ventilator was attached to the catheter to blow air. If the intermittent blowing of air could be heard rushing into the ear through the eustachian tube, the tube was working properly.
